Performed in the Years 1814 and 1815, in Company with the Rev. Samuel Marsden. In Two Volumes. Ln: James Black and Son 1817. 1st ed. Vol. I. xix, 431p, frontis, 1 fldg plate 1 fldg map. Vol. II. xii, 397p, frontis, I plate, map of Bay of Islands, contents generally clean, some light browning. Old light rubber stamps for Devon and Exeter Institution on verso of frontis both volumes and verso of the fldg plate in Vol. I. 235mm bound in contemporary HC bindings, marbled boards both volumes have been rebacked, original spine strips laid on, new free endpapers and cloth hinges. Tidy set.
Nicholas a New South Wales settler of two years standing, accompanied Marsden on his historic mission to the Bay of Islands in Dec 1814 and was his close companion for the duration of their stay to the end of Feb 1815. Bagnall 4268.
