Autographed letter signed Jos Banks
on folded notepaper, 2pp to an unnamed correspondent dated Soho Square, May 17, 06 [1806].
In the letter he thanks his correspondent for a book of satirical poems ‘the perusal of which has amused me....’ skits the writer on Harpoon and holes, suggest his comparisons ‘between a Bride and a Bitch so advantageous to the latter will not create one female smile...’ and concludes ‘pray in your next edition print a translation for the benefit of the Ladies and the Fellows of the R.S. [Royal Society].
A 1p transcript of the letter in the hand of the renowned New Zealand Collector Dr. C.A.O. Fox.
