Supplement to the Birds of New Zealand, 2 volumes
London: Published [for the subscribers] by the author 1905. Vol.I. xlix, 200p, frontis [portrait], 5 hand coloured plates and text illustrations. Light browning and spotting on end papers, and frontis, contents and plates clean.
Vol. II. [2]pp, 178p, 7 hand coloured plates and text illustrations. Light browning to endpapers, text and plates clean. 385mm, both vols in original red buckram with gilt kiwi, some mottling to the cloth of both volumes, however a VG set.
Contemporary signature of John T [Tiffin] Stewart, Wanganui [Engineer, Surveyor and Mapper], and another inscription gifting the books to his daughter Ellen dated 1913. Ellen Sargeant [nee Stewart] figures largely in the early history of the Sarjeant Gallery and the acquisition of art for its collection.
