From: Dumont D'Urville. Voyage de la corvette l'Astrolabe, 1826-1829. Paris: 1833. Atlas 1. Pl. 61. Blind stamp along base. Black & white lithograph 315 x 495mm, showing a close-up view from the water of two canoes drawn up on the beach and several low European dwellings beyond in a sheltered bay. A pataka (storage platform) can be seen on the hill behind the houses. Two Maori are seated in front of the houses and two are standing behind a low whare on the right. Light marginal toning, VG.
