The beginning of a volume by Grey containing 48 Māori songs, P57 is only a proof inserted since the compilation by Bleek... In 1949 sufficient printed sections were located at the Auckland Public Library to enable about 150 copies with a special printing of p57 from the proof to be bound and sold by the Polynesian Society, the work although printed in 1857 was not published until 1950. He Waiata na nga Iwi Māori kia Kawana Kerei. 1p, single card with no imprint or date. Contains under the above heading a song of seven four lined rhymed verses addressed to Sir George Grey. Verso, the library stamp of the Grey Collection, Auckland Public Library and a Withdrawn stamp. W 420. Rare.
