DONNELLY, IGNATIUS
The Great Cryptogram
Francis Bacon in the so-called Shakespeare Plays. Sampson Low 1888. Ex Auckland Masonic Library, two volumes. 255mm, original maroon cloth with gilt portrait and black titles, short tear at head of spine Vol.1. Presentation inscription on front endpapers, some light spotting. A good tidy copy.
A lawyer and politician, Donnelly (1831-1901) was the populist candidate for President when he died. This work is one of a number of books attempting to show that Sir Francis Bacon actually wrote the Shakespeare plays.
