PLEASE NOTE: The buyer’s premium for this auction is 19% of the hammer price plus GST on the buyer’s premium (total of 21.85% of the hammer price). This is to be paid on top of any successful bid. The buyer must pay the full amount due not later than 5 days after the auction date.
The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition (some items may have a very short damage description or may be described with "AF", which means “all faults”). The estimates always reflect the condition of a lot. All property is sold “as is” without warranty of any kind by art+object. Bidders who are unable to inspect the items in person are welcome to request additional information at: info@artandobject.co.nz or 093544646.
Packing and courier options are available at buyer’s risk and expense. We’ll be in touch after the auction to arrange.
The link to our full Terms and Conditions can be found on the app menu or at the bottom of each page on the desktop website. We would recommend that first time and/or overseas bidders familiarise themselves with our Conditions, especially with point 11 'Bids under reserve & highest subject bids' (which also applies to timed-online auctions).
_______________
Art+Object is delighted to present the catalogue for the Rae and Peter Aimer Studio Pottery Collection. Carefully and gradually amassed over a period of about 50 years from the early 1960s, Rae Aimer's taste in applied art was predominantly informed by her life experiences and passions for tramping, travelling, landforms, and the New Zealand environment, together with her education in science and mathematics. Rae's favourite potter was Len Castle and the collection includes many major works by him including several selected for his 1994 retrospective exhibition, 'Making the Molecules Dance'. Rae toured Japanese pottery studios with Castle in 1984 and enjoyed relationships with several local potters including Castle, Graeme Storm and Jeff Scholes. She taught at Auckland Girls Grammar School for many years and later volunteered for the Pumphouse committee in Takapuna. The collection includes works by David Leach, Mirek Smisek, Chester Nealie, Greg Barron, Helen Pollock, Phillip Luxton, Nick Brandon, Rick Rudd, Elena Renker and many more.
