PLEASE NOTE: The buyer’s premium for this auction is 19% of the hammer price plus GST on the buyer’s premium (total of 21.85% of the hammer price). This is to be paid on top of any successful bid. The buyer must pay the full amount due not later than 5 days after the auction date.
The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition (some items may be described with A/F, which means “all faults”). The estimates always reflect the condition of a lot. All property is sold “as is” without warranty of any kind by art+object. Bidders who are unable to inspect the items in person are welcome to request additional information at: info@artandobject.co.nz or 093544646.
Packing and courier options are available at buyer’s risk and expense. We’ll be in touch after the auction to arrange.
The link to our full Terms and Conditions can be found on the app menu or at the bottom of each page on the desktop website. We would recommend that first time and/or overseas bidders familiarise themselves with our Conditions, especially with point no. 11 'BIDS UNDER RESERVE & HIGHEST SUBJECT BIDS' (valid also for online bidding).

Art+Object is thrilled to present the catalogue for the second Important Paintings and Contemporary Art auction of 2023, including two impressive collections: The Fairfield Trust Collection and The Chris Booth Collection. The catalogue also features Bill Hammond's 1997 masterpiece, Hokey Pokey 3, one of the finest of the artist's works to appear at auction.
The Fairfield Trust Collection represents a significant private collection of modern and contemporary art, compiled over several decades in Wellington. With a strong accent on line and the written word, the collection includes several major works by leading New Zealand artists Ralph Hotere and Bill Hammond along with early works by Colin McCahon and Toss Woollaston. The collection also features international prints by Joan Miró and Antoni Tàpies.
Chris Booth is one of our most important sculptors. His works manifest a deep concern with the way the development of European society has altered the land and spirituality of Aotearoa and how we continue to degrade our natural environment. His collection includes works by Ralph Hotere, Cilla McQueen, and pioneering Māori modernist, Selwyn Wilson.
The auction will be conducted live in our Newton saleroom with online bidding available via this online bidding platform or app.
