PLEASE NOTE: The buyer’s premium for this auction is 19% of the hammer price plus GST on the buyer’s premium (total of 20.85% of the hammer price). This is to be paid on top of any successful bid. The buyer must pay the full amount due not later than 5 days after the auction date.
The absence of a condition report does not imply that the lot is in perfect condition. The estimates always reflect the condition of a lot. All property is sold “as is” without warranty of any kind by art+object. Bidders who are unable to inspect the items in person are welcome to request additional information at: info@artandobject.co.nz or 093544646.
Packing and courier options are available at buyer’s risk and expense. We’ll be in touch after the auction to arrange.
The link to our full Terms and Conditions can be found on the app menu or at the bottom of each page on the desktop website. We would recommend that first time and/or overseas bidders familiarise themselves with our Conditions, especially with our SUBJECT BIDS practice (point no. 11, which stands also for timed-online auctions).
Art+Object is delighted to present the catalogue for Important Paintings & Contemporary Art, to be held on Tuesday May 2, 2023.
The Important Paintings & Contemporary Art catalogue features an impressive selection of works by Paul Dibble, Fiona Pardington, Colin McCahon, Terry Stringer, Don Binney, Ralph Hotere, Robyn Kahukiwa, Peter Peryer, Judy Millar and many more. We are honoured to be presenting three historical New Zealand paintings of national significance, all of which have been repatriated specifically for purposes of sale. From the same family collection in Sydney are Māori portraits by Gottfried Lindauer and Charles Frederick Goldie. Alongside these two portraits is an important depiction of one of the most dramatic and far-reaching moments of Abel Tasman’s first voyage to New Zealand in 1642 by the Dutch maritime painter Everhardus Koster.
Please join us to preview the catalogue on Wednesday 26 April, 5pm–7pm | 3 Abbey Street, Newton, Auckland.
The artworks will then be on view at Art+Object every day until the auction on Tuesday 2 May, at 6pm.
