Art+Object is pleased to present a high-quality auction catalogue of Important Paintings & Contemporary Art, which is now available to browse online.
This catalogue features several highlights and is headlined by two particularly important New Zealand paintings: Don Binney’s spectacular Heron’s Departure, New Spring, Te Henga, a painting which does much to encapsulate the artist’s love of Auckland’s rugged west coast and our unique native flora and fauna; and Colin McCahon’s Monuments to Te Whiti and to Te Ua: Prophets (1972), an historically significant bi-cultural work which the artist himself referred to as representing “… Some of my best work in years.”
Further major works include Michael Parekōwhai’s Kapa Haka (Officer Taumaha) which is the example from the artist’s 54th Venice Biennale exhibition, two mid-1990s 'Bird' paintings by Bill Hammond, major sculptures by Paul Dibble, Terry Stringer, Dave McCracken and Greer Twiss, several major paintings representing Milan Mrkusich’s iconic series of 'Corner' paintings, and significant contemporary works by Judy Millar, Fiona Pardington, Kushana Bush, John Reynolds, Tony de Lautour, Liz Maw, as well as a strong selection of international prints by Banksy, Yayoi Kusama, Christo, and Terry Frost.
