‘The Malabar’ was built at Greenock in 1835. She traded between the Clyde and Calcutta. William Clark was the son of a seaman whose interest in ships led him to become Scotland’s finest ship portraitist. His work is represented in the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, USA and the National Maritime Museum.
