This is Frederick Moss’s copy with his name, address,12 full pages of handwritten notes as well as numerous marginal notes throughout, recording dates and events regarding the written works by Travers, Nicholas, Cruise, Taylor, Hochstetter and others. Clipping laid onto the endpaper re ‘The Boyd Incident’ and with his inscription ‘This shows how myths may grow from small frustrations, 4 June 1890’.
Hicken’s Judgement ‘Full concise accurate and suitable for any learner still stands despite the embarrassing question whether the facts of history need any longer to be learned.’ Bagnall 3654.
