World War 1 lidded coconut shell container standing on coiled metal legs. Lid hinged with metal fastener. Surface carved and incised on one side - APIA SAMOA with carved hands shaking; Monogram of crossed rifles, crown, skull & cross bones with SRF 1915, the other side an image of a soldier, NZR on his collar farewelling his wife. A face carved into the lid and carved patterns top and bottom.
