Mies van der Rohe (designer)
A pair of Barcelona chairs
in black leather and chromium plated steel. Originally designed for the German pavilion at the 1929 World Fair, such was their success that they went into production soon after. This pair manufactured in the 1980s. The design was inspired by the ancient folding chairs of Greece and Rome, the chair is today recognised as one of the leading design objects of the twentieth century.
